What to look for in a UK fireworks event
Most Bonfire Night events in the UK are council park displays: a 15 to 20 minute show, a few food vans, and a scramble for the car park. The best fireworks events in the UK treat the night as a full day out. You want a long fairground, a proper bonfire, a kids show before the loud main display, and a fireworks design that fills the sky rather than a single firing line in front of you.
Abingdon Funfair & Fireworks is built that way. Gates open at 2:00pm at Abingdon Airfield in Oxfordshire. Fairground rides are £2 until 4:00pm. The kids singalong fireworks show is at 6:00pm. The main 270° fireworks, light and laser spectacular starts at 7:30pm. The bonfire is lit at 8:15pm. The fairground closes at 10:00pm.

Abingdon is officially the UK's biggest fireworks display. The show is a 270° wrap-around spectacular, so the fireworks surround the crowd instead of sitting in one direction. Lasers and lighting are choreographed to music. The venue is an airfield, which is why the scale is different to a town recreation ground.
Capacity has been slashed for 2026 to make the night more exclusive. Tickets will sell out early. Register for priority access and 10% off general release prices.
Where is it?
Abingdon Airfield, Barrow Road, Shippon, OX13 6JQ. That is Oxfordshire, about 8 miles from Oxford station and 10 miles from Didcot Parkway. It is a realistic Bonfire Night trip from Oxford, Didcot, Swindon, Reading, Newbury, and much of the M40 / A34 corridor. Parking is pre-booked ANPR. Do not park in Shippon Village.
How to get tickets
Register on this site with your email and mobile. Registrations get priority access and 10% off general release. General release is £20 for adults, £15 for children (3-15), free for infants under 3, and £65 for a family pass (2 adults + 2 children). Final release is higher. Parking is £5 per vehicle. Prices plus Eventbrite booking fee. Gate sales are not expected.
