How close is it to Oxford?
Abingdon Airfield is in Shippon, OX13 6JQ, south of Oxford. Oxford station is about 8 miles away. Didcot Parkway is about 10 miles. There is no event shuttle advertised as standard, so most guests drive and pre-book parking, or use a taxi from Oxford or Didcot.
Do not park on streets in Shippon. Pre-booked ANPR parking is the only on-site option.
Why people leave Oxford for Abingdon
City-centre and college-adjacent displays cannot match an airfield 270° wrap-around show. You also get the South's biggest fairground, a kids show at 6:00pm, and a bonfire after the main fireworks. It is a full Saturday, not a 20-minute bang then home.

Timings for an Oxford trip
Leave Oxford with time to arrive by 5:30pm at the latest. Gates open 2:00pm if you want cheap rides. Main display 7:30pm. Bonfire 8:15pm. Fairground close 10:00pm. Weather does not cancel the fireworks.
